It is undeniable now, the smell of autumn is in the air, and whilst the sun is still doing her best to bath the late summer flowers in her warm golden light, The slightly colored leaves and heavy grey clouds on the horizon tell a different story - a story of muddy paths, wet socks, falling leaves, brightly colored pumpkins and the cozy smell of freshly baked apple & pecan pie.

The turning of the wheel is once again at a transition point, And it is now time to preserve what summer has offered us to help us through the colder period.

For me personally, the turn of seasons is one of the most magickal times, we are neither quite here anymore not quite there yet. We are in a strange in-between were we can sense blessings of both seasons, and the air is filled with a sense of opportunity, change, and excitement for things to come.

The Wiccan Wheel of year does not celebrate a holiday between the harvest festival of Lammas and the autumnal equinox of Mabon, but I love to spend days where I feel the turning of the seasons the strongest in a very special way, honoring this plentiful moment.
So today, I am going to take you along, showing you how I preserve some of the joys of summer for the colder days to come, prepare for fall and work my kitchen and cottage witch magick.
These in-between days are usually marked by a mix in weather - sun rays and rainclouds will move in a dancelike choreography across the sky - creating this very special golden light and if we are lucky, the occasional rainbow.
So while it is dry, let's harvest the sweet treats that mother nature is offering us in the late days of summers to bake a plum crumble after an old family recipe and make my special love potion: Blackberry liqueur.

04:00 Oma´s Plum tart crumble recipe

X For the Base

1 basket or about of damson plums (or other fruit)
350 g flour
60 g sugar (yes, it is not very sweet!)
180 ml warm milk
Some vanilla extract
15 g active dry yeast
Pinch of salt
60 g melted (warm) butter
1 egg
Some lemon zest
1 tsp salt
cinnamon

X For the crumbles
300 g flour
280 g sugar
Some vanilla sugar or extract
A lot of cinnamon
Even more butter (200g)

1 l dry red wine
550 g candied Sugar (or regular sugar)
1 cinnamon stick
1 l brown rum
